Merchant Center Price Mismatch: Why Your Feed and Website Disagree

See why Merchant Center flags a price mismatch between your product data and your website, how to find the cause, and how to fix it properly.

A price mismatch means the price in the product data you sent does not match the price a shopper sees on your product page. Google compares the two, and items that do not match can be disapproved. Many mismatches are small and fixable once you know where to look.

What Google's help pages say

Google's product data specification says the price in your data should match the price shown on the product's landing page. Google's issue guidance explains how issues appear in Merchant Center and how to review them. Read the exact message and the example item before changing anything.

Common causes

  • The feed updates less often than the store. A price changes on the website, but the feed still carries the old price until its next update.
  • Sales and discounts. The page shows the sale price while the feed shows the regular price, or the sale dates do not line up.
  • Different variants. The feed uses one variant's price, but the page opens on another variant with a different price.
  • Currency and tax. The page shows a price in another currency, or with or without tax, compared with the country your data targets.
  • Extra costs added late. Fees, quantity discounts or "from" pricing change the number between the page and the checkout.
  • Different prices for different visitors. Location-based or personalised prices can show Google something different from what a shopper sees.
  • Old cached pages. A cache or CDN may still show a previous price.
  • Rounding and formatting. Small differences in decimals can still count as a mismatch.

How to find the cause

  1. In Merchant Center, open the price issue and note an example product.
  2. Open that product's page and write down the price a shopper sees, including the selected variant.
  3. Open the same product in your product data or feed source and compare the price, the sale price and the currency.
  4. Check whether the page price changes by country, currency or tax setting, using the country your data targets.
  5. Look at the price in the page's structured data, if your theme adds it, and make sure it agrees with the visible price.
  6. Check how often your feed updates and when it last ran.

How to fix it

  • Fix the price at its source, in your store or your product data, so there is one source of truth.
  • Make sale prices and their dates match what the page shows.
  • Make the feed price follow the same variant the page shows by default.
  • Match currency and tax display to the country your data targets.
  • Update the feed more often, or use any automatic update option your account offers, so changes reach Google quickly.
  • Clear any page cache after a price change, then confirm the live page.
  • After the fix, wait for Google to read the changes and check the issue again.

What not to do

  • Do not show one price to Google and a different one to shoppers. That can be treated as misleading.
  • Do not change a price only for a day to make a check pass and then change it back.
  • Do not ignore the issue. Even a few mismatches can lead to disapproved items, and repeated problems add to how Google sees the store.

Industry practice and our recommendation

After every price or sale change, spot check three products: the page, the feed and the checkout should show the same number. Keep a short record of when prices change and when the feed refreshes, so you can find a mismatch quickly. This is practical advice, not a Google rule, and it cannot predict a decision.

If you have many products or several selling countries, a structured review of your feed attributes and product pages saves time. See our feed and product data service and product disapproval help, read about GTIN, MPN and brand issues, or browse the FAQ.
